I didn’t really mean to throw a fit, but i worked so hard to maintain the tradition and was so disappointed that they ate without me.  I didn’t even get to burn the sugar on top. They enjoyed them anyway, and I’m sure they could have done without my rantings.

And one day, the reminders become less necessary, the initiative kicks in, and they start to take care of YOU. What a blessing they are.

It is my favorite way to start the day, all together in our bed. Even if the boys bickered about who got more room. I want them here as long as they will come and cuddle, because I know it won’t be long before they won’t fit and won’t want to.

You know, I think after a week of delinquencies the tooth fairy should have to pay double, don’t you? She has gotten quite lazy with her services lately.  Thank goodness for the gentle reminder I can pass on to her.

The ratio of three adults to three kids was downright luxurious.

Say what you will about the commercialist, consumerist side of Valentines Day – when you share a house with little people it is pretty damn fun to cover the kitchen table in red and pink construction paper and glitter and talk about who we love.

And the days stretch on… I had hoped I’d be better at sitting back and letting everyone cater to my every need but alas, I can’t even bring myself to ring the bell she brought by.  I would have made terrible royalty.

I changed my focus from what I couldn’t do while laid-up and relished instead in what I could do.

i love her initiative. we’ve come such a long way since those preschool days of sitting by her side, cutting out valentines, stamping them with love.
