The older they get the more I realize they need me now more than ever. To be present. To be an ear and give counsel. To listen to middle school drama, tales of a fifth-grade something, adventures in Minecraft and Airsoft. To steady our days and set routine and create a safe haven of comfort and beauty and peace and learning. To tuck them in even still and stroke their brow. And the more I see how inadequate I am, how stretched thin, how dependent upon God to make it so.
